118th Annual Old Settlers Medallion Hunt (Sponsored by Halstead Place Assisted Living)! The Medallion Hunt will feature weekly clues, began Wednesday, July 20th. Clues will appear every Wednesday from July 20th on this site and in the Harvey County Independent newspaper until the Medallion is found. The prize is $100 cash! To hunt for the 118th Old Settlers Medallion, you need only a $2 Medallion Hunt License and a $3 Old Settlers Button, available at local Halstead merchants, including Conoco One Stop, DAngelos, Helds, Halstead Chiropractic, Halstead Market, City Hall, Halstead Bank, and The Old Hardware Store, for just $3. You must have both a license and button to claim the $100 prize!

- On to where a Protector is named.
- Here is a memory surrounded by stone
- Keep moving dont park or the path will be blown.

118th Annual Old Settlers Celebration Marks 50th Anniversary of the Filming of the Columbia Pictures' Academy Award-Winning Film Picnic! An adaption of the William Inge stage play, Picnic was a hit with audiences and critics alike, starring William Holden, Kim Novak, Cliff Robertson, Rosalind Russell, and etc. Its pivotal scene was filmed in Riverside Park in 1955. For well over 100 years, Halstead's Old Settlers has been celebrated by the Halstead community to recognize and give thanks for our community's heritage. Halstead's Old Settlers is the oldest continuous celebration in Harvey County, Kansas, and has been held every August, rain or shine, since 1887. It is a time to honor the past, recognize Halstead citizens for their long-standing contributions to the community, and salute the current leaders who guide our great community into the future. As in times past, Old Settlers is celebrated with parades, games, contests and social events.
We invite one and all to visit Halstead during Old Settlers and celebrate Halstead's past and future, and the 50th anniversary of the filming of the movie Picnic in Halstead!
