Old Settlers 2006 Medallion Hunt Clues

Clues are published weekly here on this web site and in the Halstead weekly newspaper. Medallion Hunt license are just $3. A licensed winner will receive $100. Non-licensed $20. Contact Old Settlers for information about Medallion Hunt licenses and rules/guidelines.

The Medallion has been found by Dan Mueller and his niece, Shelby Wilson!

  • #4 - July 27, 2006
    New Orleans is East,
    The Rockies are West.
    Mardi Gras is fine,
    But heights are best.
  • #3 - July 20, 2006
    Like Mardi Gras beads
    With some beads gone
Keep your eye on the hunt
    And it won't be long.
  • #2 - July 13, 2006
    If in our parade,
    you’d like to ride,
    Medallion Hunt winner,
    Cheers from the side,
    Look to the future,
    And look to the past,
Look for something sure to last.
  • #1 - July 6, 2006
    It’s not in New Orleans,
    Not on private property;
    It’s hidden in Halstead,
    So hunt it properly.

Old Settlers ’06: It’s Starting to Look Like Cajun Country

HALSTEAD – Now we can put a face – an alligator face – with this year’s Old Settlers Celebration theme: “Let the Good Times Roll! Mardis Gras Style.”

Halstead artist Brad Wingert has unveiled the celebration logo – destined for a future on buttons and T-shirts – featuring a gator on guitar, a sax-jamming shrimp and, of course, a bottle of Louisiana hot sauce.

The Halstead chamber’s Old Settlers committee is in high gear for OS 119. Here’s the latest:

  • Michelle Hawkins – of the committee and once of New Orleans – seeks “a large sponsor” for the sound system, lights and stage for the eight bands that will perform. The stage will be named for the sponsoring business and have a banner displayed all three days.
  • Vendor information and registration forms are out, a must for receiving a vending license from the committee to operate during the big bash that shifts downtown this Aug. 11 to 13. License fees are $150 for out-of-town for-profit food, beverage and merchandise vendors; $50 for out-of-town for-profit craft vendors; $30 for out-of-town non-profit vendors; $75 for in-town for-profit food, beverage and merchandise vendors; $25 for in-town for-profit craft vendors; and $15 for in-town non-profit vendors.
  • Sponsorships are available at $1,000 for platinum level, $500 for gold, $200 for silver, $100 for bronze and $50 for individuals. Sponsors receive varying levels of T-shirts, event guide ads and buttons.
