Rod Run (Car Show)

The Old Settlers Rod Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry fee is $15 and includes an official Old Settlers button.

Car Show Awards

Spectators Choice, Top 25 Cars, Best Engine, Best Interior, Best Paint, Best of Show and Best Motorcycle.

GO and Whoa

The GO AND WHOA IS For Entertainment Only!! Face paint is welcomed or costume if you want! It’s gonna be hot so, maybe make up on the face or anything to get the judges attention! There will be a trophy for best FACE or whoever can make the crowd laugh the most! Its up to you…Hey, this is the Old Settlers Festival, lets relax and have a good time….Let it hang out for a few hours!
Go and WHOA in the park, competition starts at Scout Park (Sante Fe street) at 11:15  Aug. 13th.
Who Can Play? Must have two individuals in each vehicle, one must be a licensed driver, the passenger can be anyone you choose.
Vehicle Rules: Must have 4 wheels and at least 2 seat belts.
How far do I drive? 30 yards or so….
What Speed?  5 mph  “Slow”
More instructions will be available at the events.
Caution:  This event could cause laughter that is contagious!
Contestants please show up immediately after the parade with your vehicle and team mate north of 3rd on Santa Fe…
Look for a Car Show Representative and get signed up…….
The vehicle can be an ATV, golf cart, anything with 4 wheels and seat belts.
This is a timed event and only one vehicle will be executing the event at a time. All eyes will be on you!

Kids Bicycle Drag Race

Kids Bicycle Drag Race  -  Kids Model Car Build Off 

For the kids, there will be a kids bicycle drag race and a kids model car build off. Registration for the model car build off will be available at the Independent office at 220 Main the first week of July. Their are 12 Corvettes (skill level #2)  free cars available for the build-off, so they will be given out on a first-come, first serve basis at the Independent Office. 

The build off is for those ages 7-12. Those who do not get a free model car are not completely out of the competition. Model cars can be purchased from Motor City Kansas in Wichita, 8663 West Central (SE corner Tyler & Central). Tell them you are with the Old Settlers Model Car Build Off Event. Corvette cost $8.50, you may choose any other car you wish at your expense. Paint for the cars is available at Motor City Kansas.
Please read the instructions on how much to compete at home! You must have The Build Off Instructions and have them filled out at registration! Pick up your paper work at:

Kids Bicycle Drag Race
12:30? Or close to it --  Scout park (Santa Fe),,,Same as the Go and WHOA,,,,,,,face paint, costumes, whatever you like….Just keep cool though…..This is mainly for the kids, if an adult wants to entertain the crowd have at it…….You will be categorized by age for the race…NO MOTORIZED bicycles, people power all the way, any other kind of bicycle is ok….This is strictly for your enjoyment so have a good time.
Music will be provided by Marvin the DJ.
Grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and other good food will be available from the Halstead Boy Scouts. Be Our Guest, Picnic in Our Park and enjoy some great family fun!

Car Show
For those participating in the car show on Saturday, please meet at the high school at 520 W. 6th for parade lineup instructions. Participants will get directions at that time for Scout Park located at Third and Locust.

Music will be provided by Marvin the DJ.

Grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and other good food will be available from the Halstead Boy Scouts. Be Our Guest, Picnic in Our Park and enjoy some great family fun!
